The ELS are supposed to write different forms of assignments during their academic studies (paragraphs, essay, paper, research paper, dissertation, article, report, etc). These assignments are referred to as “Academic writing”which requires certain conventions of structure, style and content. Writing is a
complex combination of skills which is best taught by breaking down the
process. The writing process involves a series of steps to follow in
producing a finished piece of writing. This process should be followed and respected. As first year students, they are supposed to master the paragraph writing. For that, the second semester lessons focus more on the paragraph structure and features.
