Known also as the Triangular trade, the trans-atlantic slave trade occured from the 15th to 19th centuries. Along this period, millions of African people were deported from their homeland to the unknown. Over the course of four centuries, about 25-30 million people were violently torn from their homelands and shipped abroad, causing a terrible human suffering, and leaving an unforgetable imprint on culture and society around the globe.
