Prerequisites: To make most of this course, 2nd year students should possess the following:
· A sufficient Vocabulary bank.
· Mastery of grammar and critical thinking.
· Academic skills to organize ideas and write clearly.
· The ability to interpret and evaluate texts for comprehension.

Course Description
This module develops students’ academic writing skills with a focus on writing and comprehension. It improves students’ vocabulary, writing and text analysis techniques, grammar accuracy, and the skills of drafting sentences, paragraphs, and essays. In addition to that, their writing skills strengthen throughout the semester, as there is focus on applying reading strategies for understanding and analysing academic texts. Thereafter, students produce coherent written drafts while applying critical thinking to both written and spoken input in academic contexts.
Course Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
· Identify and recall the types of sentences by structure and function.
· Create sentences, which are clear and grammatically accurate using appropriate structure, vocabulary, and punctuation.
· Distinguish between the various types of sentences within a paragraph.
· Organize ideas through sentences to produce coherent paragraphs with effective topic sentences and supporting details.
· Distinguish between various types of paragraphs and their structural elements.
