The Communication course allows Master 1 students in Applied Linguistics and ELT to understand, acquire, and cultivate knowledge about the human communication process. It enables them to focus on both theoretical foundations and practical skills. In this lecture, students will explore and distinguish between the different types of communication. The course enables students to understand the meaning of effective communication, its characteristics as well as its importance in the communication process. The course also presents the notion of active listening as a salient component of effective communication and the way to achieve it through identifying and overcoming the communication barriers that may hinder effective communication. The course emphasizes the development of active listening and communication strategies essential for effective teaching and professional interaction in English language contexts.
