تعتبر التربية من أهم المجالات في المجتمع، فهي تلعب دورا مهما في حياة الأمم والمجتعات، فالتربية هي تلك الأداة التي تساهم في بناء شخصية الفرد وتطوير مهاراته وقدراته من جهة وتساهم في نقل المعارف والقيم من جيل إلى اخر من جهة أخرى، وبالتالي فهي تضمن استمرار الشعوب في حفظ أديانها وثقافتها وعلومها. فالتربية اليوم أصبحت تعتبر ظاهرة اجتماعية تهتم بالفرد ونشأته في مجتمعه ، كما تعتبر وسيلة للمجتمع في الحفاظ على هوية أفراده ومقوماتهم الأساسية من أساليب العيش وأنماط التفكير المختلفة.

فالتربية تعتبر جزءا أساسيا من ميدان العلوم الاجتماعية، حيث هاته الأخيرة بدراسة التفاعلات والعلاقات بين الأفراد والمجتمع وكيفية تأثير هذه العلاقات على سلوكهم وتطورهم. ومن خلال توالي البحوث والدراسات في ميدان العلوم الاجتماعية تطور مصطلح علم التربية كعلم قائم بحد ذاته إلى ذلك المصطح الحديث والمسمى بعلوم التربية، حيث تساهم مختلف العلوم الاجتماعية اليوم كالفلسفة، علم النفس، علم الاجتماع، والانتروبولجيا وغيرها في عملية تربية وتنشأة الفرد، ففهم علاقة التربية بميدان العلوم الاجتماعية أساسي لفهم كيفية تطور المجتمعات وسلوك أفرادها في مختلف أصناف ومجالات المجتمع.

Understanding the relationship between education and the social sciences is fundamental to understanding how societies and individual behaviors develop in different societal categories and domains.
